CHESHIRE- Irene A. (Dailey) McElroy, 101, passed away Tuesday January 12, 2016 at her daughter’s home. She was predeceased by her husband James J. McElroy.
Mrs. McElroy was born April 6, 1914 in Cumberland, RI daughter of the late John Henry and Jennie (Conroy) Dailey.
She was a 1930 graduate of Cumberland High School, and a 1935 graduate of St. Joseph School of Nursing. Irene was a Nurse in the Lincoln School system for 31 years prior to her retirement.
Mrs. McElroy is survived by her daughter Maureen and her husband David A. Ulizio of Cheshire; three grandchildren Kara (Ulizio) and her husband Michael Lewis, Ryan Ulizio, David J. Ulizio; two great grandsons Declan Lewis, and Grady Lewis; three nephews John H. Dailey III of Florida, Dennis Dailey of Cumberland, RI, Mark Dailey of Cumberland, RI; three nieces Joyce Ballou of Smithfield, RI, Maryann Ricci of Seminole, FL, Jane Bielecki of Cumberland, RI. She was predeceased by her four brothers John H. III, H. Gratton, William “Billy”, and Daniel Dailey; her sisters Sr. Miriam Theresa Dailey and Cyrilla Conti; and her granddaughter Mary Ulizio.
Arrangements- Irene’s funeral will start 9:45 A.M Friday, January 15, 2016 from the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street, 06410 and proceed to St. Bridget Church, 175 Main Street, 06410 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Cumberland, RI. Calling hours will be held Thursday January 14, 2016 from 5 to 8 P.M at the funeral home. Irene’s Month’s Mind Mass will be at St. Jude’s Church in Lincoln, RI at 9:30 A.M on Sunday, February 21, 2016.
