1958 - 2019


WATERTOWN, CT Karen Cindy Huntley, 61, of the Porter Street Group Home in Watertown and formerly of Naugatuck, peacefully entered into the arms of Jesus and Mumma at Yale New Haven Hospital on November 26, 2019, surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness.
Karen was born January 26, 1958 In Waterbury a daughter of the late Raymond and Hazel (Cochran) Huntley. She was always loved by her family and was the center of attention wherever she went. She was educated in Naugatuck schools then went on to work at WARC for 46 years. She participated in the Waterbury Special Olympics and the Wolcott Games and received many medals and ribbons. Karen was in many talent shows, dances and special award dinners. She loved life and showed love unconditionally with compassion. Sincere thanks to Dan and the staff at Key Human Services and Felissa, the house mother at the Porter Street Group Home who were so loving and cared for Karen for 10 years. She will be sadly missed by her housemates and loving nurse Renee.
Karen is survived by her brother George Huntley and his wife Mary; her guardian and sister Sheila Ferguson and her husband Jerry; her brother Vic Huntley and his wife Sue; her brother John Huntley and his wife Maureen; her sister Terri Huntley; her sister Candy Lantieri and many nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts. She was predeceased by a brother and 2 sisters.
A Celebration of Karen’s Life will be Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 12:00 to 2:00pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck, with Pastor Duane Crossman officiating at the funeral home at 1:00pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers and to honor Karen’s memory, family and friends may make donations in Karen’s name to WARC, 1929 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06705.
