Joseph Hughes

Naugatuck, CT Joseph R. Hughes, Sr., 72, the husband for 35 years of the late Margaret (Kosinski) Hughes, died peacefully on August 13, 2016 at Glendale Center.

Joe was born on September 13, 1943 in New Haven, CT a son of the late Robert and Lillian (Salzano) Hughes and was a long time Naugatuck resident. Joe attended local schools and proudly worked as a custodian at Naugatuck High School.

Joe is survived by his son, Joseph R. Hughes, Jr. of Waterbury and his sister, Caroline Stanley of Midland, MI. In addition to his wife and his parents, Joe was predeceased by his daughter Jenifer Hughes and his brother, James Hughes.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 1:00pm at St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers and to honor Joe’s memory, contributions may be made to Joseph R. Hughes, Jr., c/o Indian Trail Group Home, 6 Indian Trail, Waterbury, CT 06705.
