Howard Wayne Slason Jr., age 82, of Prospect entered into rest on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at VITAS at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Patricia (Mandeville) Slason for over 36 years. Howard was born on December 22, 1941 in Waterbury son of the late Howard Sr. and Catherine (Wargo) Slason.
Howard served his country with honor and pride with the US Air Force from 1959-1963 as a Morse Code Interceptor, stationed in the Philippines. He was an avid sports fan; rooting for the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and UCONN Basketball; and was a lifetime member of the Naugatuck Elks Lodge 967. He was a fisherman and made many memorable trips with his brother to Bantam Lake and South Carolina. Howard was an exceptional golfer, and made many long-lasting friendships at Hop Brook Golf Course and Tidewater Plantation in North Myrtle Beach, SC, where he and Pat spent their first 10 years following Howard’s retirement from Naugatuck Treatment Company.
In addition to his wife, Patricia of Prospect, Howard is survived by his children, Jennifer (Jamie Marble) Perkins of Ft. Worth, TX; Eric (Debra) Slason of Goffstown, NH; Christopher Collins of Waterbury; and Bridget (Tom Kaczynski) Reardon of Waterbury. He also leaves his five loving grandchildren, Emily (John) Rose, Hannah Marble and Ryan Marble, and Jonathan Reardon and Kayla Reardon; a cherished great-grandson on the way; his brother, Michael C. Slason Sr. of Naugatuck; his sister, Mary Beth Vaughan of Danbury; and several beloved nieces and nephews. Howard was predeceased by his sister, Kathleen Slason and his sister-in-law, Marcella Slason.
