Howard O. Peters, Jr., 82, of Cheshire, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Known to his family and friends as Howie, he was the beloved husband of Joanne Peters for 56 years. Born in Queens, New York, on August 29, 1940, to the late Howard Sr. and Estelle Peters, he was raised in Roslyn on Long Island, New York.
Howie received his B.A. degree in Economics from Ohio Wesleyan University and started his 56-year career in the insurance industry at Connecticut General (CG), culminating with the founding of his own business, H O Peters Associates. Through the years he achieved many awards as a top producer and even sang in a CG commercial.
Son, brother, husband, father, Papa, uncle, friend. Howie will especially be remembered for his devotion and love for his family and wry sense of humor. An avid Giants fan, he also enjoyed camping, golfing, beach vacations, music festivals, dancing in the living room, and attending all events in his grandchildren’s lives. His generous spirit, kindness, and integrity were evident by all who knew him. Howie will be deeply missed.
Besides his wife, Howie is survived by his children, Tracy Peters (Brian Young), Melinda Richard (Todd), Carrie Belcourt (Michael), and Todd Peters; grandchildren Lucette and Jacqueline Moran, Savannah and Jillian Richard, Evan and Drew Belcourt, and Henry Young; and an extended loving family.
In addition to his parents, Howie was predeceased by his sister, Heather Peters.
All whose lives Howie touched are invited to the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home, 615 S. Main Street, Cheshire, CT, Saturday, September 24, 2022, from 2-4 PM, to reminisce and celebrate a life well lived. Services will be private.
