CHESHIRE - Howard M. Baldwin, Jr., 72, passed away peacefully after a long, determined battle with various cardiac issues and multiple myeloma cancer on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Hartford Hospital. He was the husband of Joanna (Morrissey) Baldwin.
Besides his wife of 48 years, Mr. Baldwin is survived by his son Thomas Baldwin of Cheshire; his daughter Karen Latozas of Plainville; his sisters Mary Louise Main of Milford and Susan Landry of Cape Cod.
Mr. Baldwin was born August 1, 1946 in New Haven, the son of the late Howard M. Baldwin, Sr. and Helen (Latham) Baldwin. He grew up in West Haven, attended West Haven High School and later the University of New Haven, studying Electrical Engineering. He also served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Upon his return home, he began his career in telecommunications and, in 1978, opened his own business, Baldwin Communications, currently located in Cheshire.
A town resident since 1987, he was an active member of the local community. He was a member of the Cheshire Chamber of Commerce, serving in various capacities, Cheshire Rotary, and Profnet of Waterbury. He was often spotted working at the Fall Festival, Pancake Breakfast, Chamber golf events, or ringing the bell during the holiday season.

Arrangements – A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2018, at 2:00 pm at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St. Calling hours will be held Sunday afternoon from 12 until the start of the service. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
