Herbert Strand

CHESHIRE - Herbert J. Strand, 91, passed away Monday August 2, 2010 at Mid-State Medical Center in Meriden. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth D. Strand.

Mr. Strand was born March 29, 1919 in West Haven the son of the late Samuel and Bertha (Boreson) Strand. He was a longtime Cheshire resident who owned and operated the Strand Poultry Farm with his wife. He was a WWII Army Veteran who was also affiliated with the Cheshire Hillside Cemetery Association and was a member of Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Woodbridge.

Mr. Strand is survived by his son Peter M. Strand and his wife Kelly of McHenry, IL; his two grandchildren Erin and Katherine Strand and his great granddaughter Ava.

Arrangements - A graveside service will be held on Thursday August 5, 2010 at 9 a.m. at Cheshire Hillside Cemetery, Wallingford Road, Cheshire. A Memorial service will follow at 10 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Free Church, 33 Center Road, Woodbridge. A reception will follow at the church. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main Street Cheshire.
