Mrs. Helen Dorothy (Malkin) Pinkert, 94, of 95 Fleming St., Waterbury, died Thursday evening Dec. 3, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the widow of Dr. Frank Pinkert who died in 1985, after over 50 years of marriage.
Mrs. Pinkert was born in Waterbury, March 23, 1914, a daughter of the late Morris and Rose (Yavetz) Malkin and was a life long city resident. She was educated in the local school system and was a graduate of Willimantic Normal School. In her earlier years she was an educator and later a homemaker. She was a member of B'Nai Shalom Synagogue.
A devoted Wife, Mother and Grandmother, she will be sadly missed by her daughter, Rosalind Pinkert Sherron and her husband James of Frenchtown, N.J.; two brothers Dr. Herbert Malkin of Williamsport, PA, and Dr. Meyer Malkin of Rockville, CT; one sister, Beverly Rappaport of Gloversville, NY; two grandsons, James J. Sherron and his wife Emily of Virginia and Joshua A. Sherron of New Jersey.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Hebrew Benefit Cemetery, Stillson Rd., Waterbury. The Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave. is in charge of arrangements.
