Harriet R. Clark

Waterbury - Harriet (“Jeff”) R. Clark, 86, formerly of Prospect (Cheshire, and Southington), passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, June 6, 2024. She was the wife of the late Frederick “Fred” C. Clark.

Harriet was born September 28, 1937, in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Samuel and Mary (Curtis) Reynolds. She grew up in Baltimore, MD, and graduated from Roland Park Country Day School. Harriet then attended Oberlin College in Ohio, where she met Fred, the love of her life, and they were married for 50 years. She received her Master’s in Special Education from Central CT State University.

She was an active member of the Cheshire United Methodist church for over 40 years and was a Special Education Teacher in the Southington school system for over 30 years, where she was recognized as Teacher of the Year in 1993. After retirement, she continued her passion to help others as a volunteer for SpEdCT, advocating for students and their families. Fred would joke that because of this volunteer work, he saw even less of her after she retired.

Harriet is survived by her children, son Donald Clark (Elinor) of Westerville, OH; her daughter Amy Frederick of Meriden, CT; and son, Frederick "Rick" Clark (Michelle Cheeseman) of El Cerrito, CA; her grandchildren Jeffrey Clark, Reed Clark, Jennifer Frederick (Arthur Sides, IV), Kyle Frederick (Bianca Khatib), and Soraya Clark; and her great-grandson, Jase Frederick-Dawson.
