Grayling Bernier, 56, of Waterbury and formerly of Torrington passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017 at his residence. He was born on March 16, 1960, son of the late Donald and Florida (Begley) Bernier.
Grayling worked as an Orderly and was a Nurse’s Aide at St. Mary’s Hospital for over 10 years and he also drove for and delivered oxygen tanks with Rotech Healthcare, Inc. for over 15 years. He was a former member of the Franco American Social Club in Waterbury and a Naugatuck Fire Police volunteer. Grayling was currently enrolled for tractor trailer training at NETTTS, and was a lifelong advocate of Dunkin’ Donuts.
Mr. Bernier is survived by his son Grayling Bernier II and his wife, Kala of Naugatuck; and his two sisters, Cheryl Bernier of Waterbury, and Robin Bernier of Bethel. He is also survived by his aunt, J. Elaine (Bernier) Graveline of Prospect; his uncle, Richard Morrisey of Fairfield; many cousins and friends and his former wife, Lori Mariano of Meredith, NH. He was predeceased by his brother, Raymond Charles Bernier.
A memorial service for Grayling will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 3PM in St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 210 Church St., Naugatuck. A reception will follow in the church hall. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck has been entrusted with his care.
