Mrs. Grace (Fede) Iabichino (100), of 140 Cook Hill Road, Cheshire, peacefully died Friday, October 14, with her goddaughter at her side.
She was the wife of the late Salvatore (Sam) Iabichino. She was born in Modica, Sicily, Italy February 3rd, 1911, daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Condito) Fede. The family settled at 413 North Brooksvale Rd. and operated a dairy farm. She was extremely proud that a portion of that land became the home of St. Thomas Beckett Church, of which she was a member as well as the Women's Club. She was also a member of the Cheshire Senior Center. She worked at Ball & Socket Manufacturing for many years until her retirement in 1976. Her smile, grace, and love touched all who met her. Her greatest loves were family and church.
She was predeceased by her daughter Antoinette (Paul) Petrowski, her brothers George, Stanley, John and Ralph Fede, and her sister, Virginia Falcone. She is survived by her brother, Joseph (Delores) Fede of Edison, New Jersey, her grandson, Steven (Cecelia) Petrowski, and her granddaughter, Elizabeth (Joseph) Collier. She was most proud of her five great grandchildren, Gary (Jennifer), Tony (Stephanie) Vincent, Paul, Carolyn, and Luke Petrowski, and her four great-great-grandchildren, Ashley, Kaylee, Jordan, and Leah Vincent.
The family will hold calling hours on Tuesday, October 18th, from 4-8p.m. at Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street, 06410. The funeral will be Wednesday, 10 A.M from the funeral home to St. Thomas Beckett Church, 435 North Brooksvale Road, Cheshire, 06410 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery, Higgins Rd, Cheshire, 06410.
