RITA MARIE (BELLEFLEUR) GOODSON

Naugatuck, CT Rita Marie (Bellefleur) Goodson, 65, widow of Keith Joseph Goodson, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024, after a brief illness.
Rita was born in Waterbury, CT on March 9, 1958, daughter of the late Clarence and Constance (Proulx) Bellefleur. Rita grew up in Waterbury and was a Naugatuck resident for the past 30 years. Rita graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury, Class of 1976 and received her A.S. Degree in Finance and Travel from Briarwood College in 1978. Rita fulfilled a career for many years in the banking industry and retired in 2023 from Neopost/Quadient in Milford. Rita’s favorite past times were camping, cooking, baking and crocheting. For many years, Rita volunteered at the annual Yale New Haven Hospital Toy Closet Golf Tournament with her husband Keith.
Rita is survived by her sister-in-law, Pamela (Goodson) Ruccio of Naugatuck; her nieces, Ashley (Ruccio) Hagedorn (Carl) of Naugatuck, Erin Ruccio of Waterbury, Jodie Burns of Middlebury; her great nephew Carl “CJ” Hagedorn of Naugatuck; her godchildren, Justin and Kaylee Carasone; several cousins and close friends including Frank and Joann Johnson, Art and Carol Salvietti, and Rob and Tami Carasone, along with their respective families, as well as her beloved cat, Walter.
Rita was predeceased by her husband of almost 30 years, Keith Goodson, who died three months ago; her parents, Clarence and Constance (Proulx) Bellefleur; her in-laws, Joseph and Lydia (Giancarli) Goodson; her brother-in-law, Mark Ruccio; her nephew, Josh Ruccio and her fur babies, Bogey and Ruby.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 10:00am St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road, Naugatuck, CT. Everyone attending is kindly asked to go directly to church. Family and friends may call Saturday, prior to the Mass from 9:15am until 10:00am at the church. Burial will be private. The Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck is entrusted with Rita’s arrangements.
