WATERBURY; Mrs. Goldie W. (Abrams) Atkin, 92 of Waterbury died Tuesday June 1, 2010 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the widow of S. David Atkin.
Mrs. Atkin was born December 16, 1917 in Waterbury a daughter of the late Jacob and Lena Abrams and was a lifelong Waterbury resident. She was a graduate of Driggs Grammar School and Crosby High School and had worked in several retail stores including Worth's and Fashion Bug. She was a member of Beth El Synagogue, Beth El Sisterhood, Ladies Aid, Hadassah and the Prospect Senior Center. She was honored in 1997 as the Minyonnaire of the year. Mrs. Atkin volunteered at Saint Mary's Hospital and in the Sail Program which helped children with reading. She also enjoyed exercising, walking, reading and crossword puzzles.
Mrs. Atkin is survived by her two daughters, Nancy Grossman of Waterbury and Carol Williams and her husband Robert of Colorado, her granddaughter Janie Fasick and her husband Michael of Michigan and several nephews and cousins.
A graveside service for Mrs. Atkin will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Hebrew Benefit Cemetery on Stillson Road in Waterbury. There are no calling hours.
