Gloria Prue Miller, 94 of Cheshire, CT died peacefully in her beloved home on July 8th . Born in Leominster, MA in 1926, the daughter of Eugenie Harris Prue and Armand Charles Prue, moved to West Haven Connecticut in 1942. Gloria graduated in 1944 from Saint Mary’s High School. She proceeded to get her Physical Therapist degree where in 1954 Gloria started the Physical Therapy Department at Gaylord Hospital. Gloria and her late husband Gregory Xavier Miller settled in Cheshire. With a young family to raise, Gloria decided to continue with her career where she opened a successful private practice for the next 40 years.
Throughout her career Gloria attended continuing education classes at UCONN and was Vice President of the Connecticut Physical Therapy Association. Gloria was very dedicated to providing healthcare services not only for her patients but her family and friends when they needed support the most. She kept her mother’s tradition having family parties at her home. She was very family oriented and allowed for diverse opinions and spirited discussions at the kitchen table over good food and drink.
Gloria is survived by her sons Mark G. Miller and his wife Natalie Peters of St. Laurent, Quebec. Philip A. Miller and his partner Debra N. Orr of Lincoln, MA. Grandchildren; Jeffrey and Christopher of St. Laurent, Quebec; Grace Miller Kennedy of Acton MA; Edward Miller of New York, NY and her nieces and nephews who she was very fond of. In addition to Gloria’s husband and parents, she was predeceased by her grandson Andrew Miller.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date to be determined. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire at 615 South Main Street is assisting with arrangements.
