Gloria Lorraine Drouin, 94, formerly of Cheshire, Connecticut, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Seabury Skilled Nursing Facility in Bloomfield, Connecticut. Gloria was born on July 31, 1925 in Cheshire, the daughter of the late Nicola and Filomena (Perrotti) Casertano.
A loving mother and devoted grandmother, Gloria was a remarkable cook and took great pride in preparing meals, cookies and pies for her family and friends. Her beautiful and delicious stollen, ravioli, apple pie and sponge cake were a Christmas tradition and made the holidays special for the entire family. She loved to watch the cooking channels in her spare time. Gloria also enjoyed tending to her home, her garden and her roses. She was an artist who painted in both oils and watercolors and often found inspiration from the flowers in her garden and the food she prepared. Gloria was an experienced knitter, who never tired of knitting sweaters for her family, especially her granddaughter. She loved vacationing at the beach, whether it was on Cape Cod or the Connecticut seashore.
Gloria is survived by her daughter, Ruth Ann Drouin of Cheshire; her daughter, Denise Drouin and her husband John Hendricks of West Granby; her granddaughter Olivia Lorraine Hendricks of Fremont, California as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Gloria is predeceased by her brothers Louis, Salvatore, Joseph, James and Nicholas Casertano; her sisters, Rose Fazzone, Anne Musto, Mary Gaglione, Sue Manzolli, Antoinette Casertano, Eleanor Lucore and Elaine Perrotti.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Seabury for their compassion and dedication; a special acknowledgement to Gloria’s primary caregivers, nurse Marina Soloveychik, and aides Elaine Reid and Janet Goodridge.
