Cheshire – Gloria Gombar, 70, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 2, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Gary Gombar.



Mrs. Gombar was born October 21, 1945, a daughter of the late John and Anna (Fontana) Fargnoli. She was a retired Naugatuck middle school teacher and supervisor of student teachers at The University of Bridgeport. Gloria was a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the National Education Association and the Connecticut Education Association.



In addition to her husband, Gloria is survived by her daughters Lisa Whitaker, and her husband Gene of Southington, and Alyssa Gombar-Brooks, and her husband John, of Cheshire, her sisters, Marian Herrick and Elaine Owen, and her brother Francis Fargnoli. She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Kira Lee DeCerb and Matthew and Molly Whitaker. She was predeceased by her daughter Kara DeCerb.



The family would like to thank Dr. Rajani Nadkarni, and the nurses and staff of Mid-State Medical Center and the Southington Care Center for their exceptional care and compassion.



Arrangements – Funeral services for Mrs. Gombar will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow at St. Bridget Cemetery, Higgins Road, Cheshire. There are no calling hours, and the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements. At the request of her family, memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, Ct. 06111.
