"Lawnmower Man" -- heading
Naugatuck- Sherwin R. "Cy" Gillette, 80, of 53 Conrad Street, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Beacon Brook Healthcare Center surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Betty (Jones) Gillette.
Mr. Gillette was born on February 22, 1930 in Waterbury a son of the late Raymond and Elsie (Gibson) Gillette. He was retired from Timex Corp. where he worked for many years. He was originally from Watertown and his family owned and operated a honey bee business in Watertown. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and also enjoyed watching wrestling and going to the casino. He fixed many a lawnmower in his life.
Besides his wife of Naugatuck he is survived by two daughters, Sharon Letts and her husband Keith of Naugatuck, Marlene Kirkendall and her husband Mark of Wolcott, five grandchildren, Amanda, Monica and Kyle Hartis, Kayleigh and Kelsey Kirkendall, two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Gracie Pohorence, one sister in law Christine Gillette of Oakville, one brother in law Willard King of New Mexico and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Marion King and Doris Gillette and one brother Arthur Gillette.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 13, 2010 from 1-3 p.m. at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave, Naugatuck. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Brookview Floor of the Beacon Brook Healthcare Center of Naugatuck for the wonderful care that they provided to Cy and his family.
