Gertrude Cumming

Cheshire - Gertrude M. Cumming, 90, of Cook Hill Rd. passed away Friday morning December 26, 2008. She was the wife of E. Perry Cumming.

Mrs. Cumming was born September 12, 1918 in Bridgeport, the daughter of the late Eli and Mary (Knees) McLellan. She was predeceased by her brothers Ernest and Robert McLellan.

Trudy was foremost a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Family was her top priority. She was a longtime Milford resident before moving to Cheshire in 2002. She was a member of the Milford Congregational Church and the Milford Women's Club.

Besides her husband of 66 years, Mrs. Cumming is survived by her daughters Cheryl MacQueen and her husband Marc of Middleborough, MA and Cynthia Rowe and her husband Gary of Cheshire; a sister Merle 'Sis' Herman of TN; six grandchildren Garrick Willard and his wife Diana, Sean Willard and his wife Dawn, Jonathan Rowe, Jennifer Rowe, Lauren MacQueen and Heather Maxim and her husband Michael; three great grandchildren William, Max and Alexandra Willard.

Arrangements - A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Elim Park, 150 Cook Hill Rd., Cheshire. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to VITAS Innovative Hospice, 1579 Straits Turnpike, Middlebury, CT or The Elim Park Benevolent Fund. The Slater Funeral Home, 242 S. Main St., Cheshire is in charge of arrangements.
