Gerardo Vito Zarra, 80, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014 while vacationing in Clearwater, FL. He was the loving husband of Natalina Zarra.
Mr. Zarra was born June 27, 1933 in Teora, Italy, the son of the late Salvatore A. and Filomena Ciccone. He was a longtime Cheshire resident moving from Italy in 1960. He was the owner of Cheshire Ceramic Tile and a communicant of St. Bridget Church. He was a member of the Hamden Bocce Club and recreational goat farmer. He loved to spend his summers in Italy and was delighted to take his grandchildren to Teora this past summer.
Besides his wife of 55 years, Mr. Zarra is survived by his sons Salvatore Zarra, Gerry Zarra and his wife Carol of Cheshire; his daughter Filomena Zarra and her husband John Aldrich of Walligford; his two grandchildren Matthew Nicola Zarra and Anna Zarra Aldrich; his siblings Anita, Filomena and Felice, as well as many nieces, nephews and family members throughout the U.S., Italy and Brazil. He is predeceased by his son Nicola Zarra and his brother Saverio.
Arrangements - Funeral services will be held Thursday 9:15 from the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire to St. Bridget Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
