WATERBURY- Georgia S. Howard, 83, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was the loving wife of David Howard for 38 years.
Mrs. Howard was born September 6, 1935 in Waterbury daughter of the late George and Ruth (Quigley) Breithaupt.
She earned the prestigious Master of Photography and Photographic Craftsman degrees from the Professional Photographers of America. She was nationally decorated photographer and teacher. Her unique style earned her many “Best of Show” and “Photographer of the Year” awards at salon exhibitions in Connecticut, New England, and United States. Georgia was a true artist, and an inspiration to all who met her. Her knowledge of art history was incredible, and knew every artist and their background. She created and taught art in her early days at St. Margaret-McTernan School, and then became an amazing photographic artist and had a very successful portrait studio in Oakville, Georgia Sheron Photography for many years.
True to her profession, Georgia will be known for her book “Uncle John, Portrait of a True Yankee Farmer” who was a former neighbor she interviewed and photographed.
Besides her husband Mrs. Howard is survived by her children Jaime and her husband James Gilnack, Lyle and her husband Paul Schreiber, Kerry and his wife Maria Sheron; her sister Ida Dayton; brother in law Roger and his wife Renee Howard; sisters in laws Gail and her husband Dana Philippi and Lynn Hansen; and cousins Peter and his wife Janice Quigley, and Bill and his wife Gretchen Quigley. Besides her parents, Georgia was predeceased by her son Robert Sheron (Dr. Bob).
Arrangements- All services for Georgia will be held at later date in the spring. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family, and there are no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 496 Chase Ave, 06704, is assisting the family with the arrangements. Donations in her name can be made to Acts 4 Ministry, Inc, Waterbury, CT.
