CHESHIRE - George W. Richard, Sr., 86, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. He was the husband of Gloria (Rabideau) Richard.
Mr. Richard was born June 16, 1928 in Cheshire, the son of the late Frederick and Gladys (French) Richard. He was a lifelong Cheshire resident where he was a successful entrepreneur. He served his country during WWII in the United States Navy.
Besides his wife of 66 years, Mr. Richard is survived by his children Mark and his wife Lynn of Westbrook, Kathy of Stuart, FL, Larry and his wife Patty of Cheshire, Shelly and her husband Rodger Ribeiro of Cumberland, RI, Greg and his wife Aurora of Royal Palm Beach, FL and Eric and his wife Colleen of Foxboro, MA; 15 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; his siblings Louis, Leon and Paul and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son George Jr. and his wife Margie and granddaughter Danielle and his sister Carol.
Arrangements – Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, 9:15 from the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. to St Bridget Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Disable American Veterans 35 Cold Spring Road. Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
