CHESHIRE- George A. Tracchio of Cheshire passed to his eternal rest on Monday, April 19, 2010 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved father of Barbara A. Tracchio Romano of Cheshire, with whom he resided.
George was born on October 27, 1913 in New Haven, the son of the late Antonio and Raffaela Durso Trocchio. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his wife, Vincenza Manuguerra Tracchio and his brothers Philip E. Tracie, Frank R. Trocchio and John D. Trocchio. George is survived by his sister Margaret LaMonica of West Haven, grandchildren Christine T. (Kyle) Sarojak of Cheshire, Matthew A. (Colleen) Oxsalida of Bay Village, Ohio, Lisa J. (William) Sarris, Denise M. Romano, Lori A. (Albert) Mastrobuoni, John J. (Amanda) Romano III, James J. (Deborah) Romano, David M. (Julia) Romano, great-grand children Taylor R. Sarojak, Annabelle M. Sarojak, Eric M. Oxsalida, Leah R. Oxsalida, Eve T. Oxsalida, Jaime L. McMahon, Noelle S. Sarris and her fianc Casey Russell, Stefanie L. (Brett) Runlett, Jon Patrick Sarris, Brett M. Dahlgard, Adam C. Dahlgard, Alex J. Dahlgard, Alexa N. Mastrobuoni, Tyler K. Romano, Meredith P. Romano and great-great grandchildren Ryan, Avery and Kelsey McMahon and Sophiea Runlett. He also leaves to mourn his passing many cherished nieces and nephews.
George was a graduate of New Haven (Hillhouse) High School where he was a member of Alpha Theta Pi Fraternity. He was employed as a department supervisor with the Robert Shaw Fulton Controls Division of Bridgeport Thermostat for over 40 years. Upon retirement, he returned as a consultant for ten years to their corporate office in Milford, CT.
George was a voracious reader and his love for learning and diverse interests led him to audit courses for twenty years at Southern CT State University. He formed life-long friendships with students of all ages and was respected for his wit, wisdom and strong character. He lived his life by the basic principles of honesty, loyalty and respect for others. George loved to golf and played the game into his eighties. He was also an avid New York Yankee Baseball and UCONN Basketball fan.
Arrangements- George's funeral will be held Friday, April 23, 2010 at 10:15 AM from the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street to St. Bridget's Church in Cheshire for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Orange Center Cemetery, Orange, CT. Calling hours will be held Thursday, April 22, 2010 from 4-8 PM at the funeral home. Donations in George's name may be made to Disabled Veterans National Foundation, P.O. Box 96648, Washington D.C. 20090-6648 or the charity of one's choosing.
