MIDDLEBURY- Genevieve C. Curik (8/4/1924-2/6/2015)

Genevieve Curik of Middlebury CT, formally of Newark, DE, died on Friday, February 6, 2015 at the age of 90 after a short term illness and complications with Alzheimer's disease. She was the fourth child and only daughter of the late Charles S. and Mildred (Border) Goodman.

Genevieve was born in Lancaster, PA but moved to New York with her parents at an early age. On May 6, 1944, she married the love of her life William (Bill) Curik at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Mt. Vernon, NY. Over the years, Bill would affectionately refer to Genevieve as “Pink”.

In her leisure time, Genevieve loved spending time with her husband, reading, dining out, and visiting with family and friends. She especially loved the companionship and taking care of her dogs over the years, most recently adoring her dog Zane.

Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband and daughter Catherine in 2003. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Tarpine and son-in-law Adam; 4 grandchildren, Thomas I Phillips III (Tiya) with whom she lived since 2008, Aaron Tarpine (Sharon), Ryan Tarpine (Nur), Matthew Clavijo (Ashley); 5 great grandchildren Alexis, Nicholas, Byron, Loretta & Sufyan; and many other nieces and friends who loved her dearly.

Arrangements- Funeral services at Our Lady of Mt Carmel, Waterbury, CT will be private. Burial will be at St Anthony Cemetery in Lancaster, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to one of the following charities: Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) or ASPCA (www.aspca.org).
