Barbara Gedraitis
PROSPECT, CT - Barbara (Schienda) Gedraitis, 97, of Royal Crest Drive, formerly of Glenrock Road in Waterbury, and the widow of Edward Gedraitis, died Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Paradigm Health Care Center of Prospect.
Barbara was born December 4, 1916 in Waterbury, CT a daughter of the late Joseph and Helena (Spryszynski) Schienda and had lived most of her life in Waterbury. Barbara was a former employee of the Scovill Manufacturing Company. Barbara was a well respected woman and an accomplished and well known local golfer, who was a past woman’s golf champion at East Mountain Golf Course.
Barbara is survived by a sister, Josephine Bertothy, a sister in law Catherine Schienda and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Barbara was predeceased by a sister Helen and brothers Chester, Raymond, John and Walter.
A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 11:00am at Calvary Cemetery, 2324 East Main Street, Waterbury. There are no calling hours.
The Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck has been entrusted with arrangements.
