Gary Richardson

NAUGATUCK - Gary Alan Richardson, 76, son of Oscar E and Lydia A Richardson, native of Naugatuck and resident of Tiburon, CA died early Monday, October 31 at The Hearth of Southbury after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Richardson is survived by his brother, Robert H Richardson and his wife Edith of Watertown, his niece Nancy Richardson and fiancé Timothy (Mac) McKernon of Middlebury, his niece Karen Kirk of Southington, a niece Rita Garfield of Los Gatos, CA as well as a daughter and two grandchildren in California.

A native of Naugatuck, CT, Mr. Richardson lived his adult life in the San Francisco Bay area where he was a sales executive and outdoor enthusiast. He enjoyed researching the family's Swedish ancestry and was an active member of the Scandinavian Club in Lake Tahoe and Clearlake, CA. His exuberant personality and legendary storytelling capabilities were in tact until the end of his life.

At Gary's request, the burial in Grove Cemetery in Naugatuck will be private and at the family's convenience. The family wishes to thank Beth Buzzanco and the staff in the Keepsake Village at The Hearth of Southbury and VITAS hospice for their care and support as well as Rachel Hallgarth for her extraordinary efforts in CA and on Gary's journey to CT. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gary's memory to The American Cancer Society 825 Brook St., Rocky Hill, CT 06067. The Alderson-Ford Funeral home of Naugatuck is assisting with arrangements.
