Gary Madnick, age 61, of Waterbury passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 19, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital. A Graveside Service was held on Sunday, May 21st in the Brass City Lodge Cemetery in Waterbury. Gary was a lifelong resident of Waterbury during which he worked for the City, and then Easter Seals in his later years. Despite living in a community with over 100,000 people, Gary was known to a great many people who would always stop to talk on the street and take his phone call when he wanted to check-in with them.
A dedicated sports fan at all levels, but with a particular love of baseball, Gary was an umpire in the Twi-Met League for a number of years. His other passion was for music, and he'd never turn down the opportunity to see it live. Much of the inspiration he got from music came from members of the Maia family, which was Gary's very own Waterbury family of which he was a special part of for most of his adult life. It was the Maia's who provided the love, friendship, and caring that sustained Gary each and every day that he was fortunate enough to have them as his family to go home to.
Gary leaves his sister Susan, Brother-in-Law Bruce, Niece's Melissa and Rachel, and nephew Sam, all of New York City, and Boston.
