Naugatuck, CT Lillian Gargonia, 96, died peacefully on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Cheshire Regional Rehab Center.
Lillian was born on July 22, 1919 in Naugatuck, a daughter of the late Edward and Ann (Aquavia) Gargonia and had been a lifelong Naugatuck resident. Lillian retired from the footwear division of Uniroyal, Inc. where she had worked for 39 years. Lillian was a member of the Cristoforo Colombo Ladies Auxiliary, the A.A.R.P. and she was a parishioner and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of St. Vincent Ferrer Church.
Lillian is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Lillian was predeceased by her sisters, Helen Farrar and Madeline Mangan and her brother, Edward Gargonia, Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 10:00am at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road, Naugatuck. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 8:45 to 9:30am at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. To honor Lillian’s memory, contributions may be made to St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road, Naugatuck, CT 06770.
