Lydia T. Freiheit

Watertown, CT Mrs. Lydia T. (Fluet) Freiheit, 73, passed away at her home on Sunday, February 6, 2022. She was the devoted wife of the late John M. Freiheit.

Mrs. Freiheit was born on April 11, 1948 in Lowell, MA daughter of the late Josephine and Lionel Fluet, and she was one of five children. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, dedicated grandmother, compassionate sister and faithful friend. Lydia’s family was her pride and joy and main priority. She loved doting on her husband of 30 years and her two children were her greatest loves. She had three beautiful grandchildren who were the lights of her life.

She loved spending time with family, especially around the holidays. She was a wonderful cook and baker and she was very creative. She was always there whenever you needed something, ready to lend a helping hand. She was a hardworking and dedicated employee of Copes Rubbish Removal and USA Hauling and Recycling.

Lydia is survived by her son, John C. Freiheit and his wife, Sara of Watertown, CT; her daughter, Ann Ferreira and her husband, Eugene of Naugatuck, CT; her grandchildren, Jack and Joseph Ferreira and Ava Freiheit; her sister and best friend, Lucy Hummel; her brother, Ronald Fluet and his wife, Linda and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband John and her parents, Lydia was predeceased by her brothers, Richard Fluet and Louis Fluet and her aunt and uncle, Helen and Joseph Lavoie.

A calling hour will be Friday from 9:30am to 10:30am, followed by a funeral service at 10:30am at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. Lydia will be laid to rest next to the love of her life, John in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown.
