Lifelong Naugatuck Resident- Frederick J. Retkowsi, age 76, of Summerfield St, Naugatuck passed away at Glendale Center on Monday, January, 26, 2015. He was the loving husband of Jean (Sloss) Retkowski. Fred was born on September 29, 1938 in Waterbury, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Suroeciz) Retkowski.

He worked at Bristol Babcock and retired from Southbury Training School as a Mail Handler. He enjoyed each of his children and dedicated his life to them. He loved all sports and enjoyed his grandkids birthday parties and going to their baseball games. He especially liked the NY Yankees and was an avid OTB fan and enjoyed the horses.

He leaves three children; Sandra Retkowski, Tammy Markey and Joseph Retkowski and his wife Jackie. He is survived by his stepsons Kevin Sloss and Mark Sloss. Fred is the proud grandfather of his cherished 5 grandchildren; Jayson, Chyna, Matthew, Travis and Davinity, his 1 great grandson, Dominic and 3 step grandchildren; Dylan, Tyler and Kayla. He also leaves his sisters; Rose Holland, Sophie Ann Fancher and Diana Stronkowsky; and several nieces and nephews. Fred was predeceased by his sister Vera Retkowski and his brother Stanley Retkowski.

The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck has been entrusted with his arrangements. There are no calling hours and burial will be private and at the convenience of his family. At the request of his family, memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck CT 06770.
