Frank Loehmann Jr.

Frank M. Loehmann Jr. was born July 5, 1945 and passed away March 19, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. He was the son of Francis M. Loehmann and Catherine (Welch) Loehmann. He grew up in Hamden where, on a blind date as a sophomore in high school, he met the love of his life and his wife of 55 years, Carol (Spignesi) Loehmann, who survives him. Frank and Carol moved to Cheshire in 1978 and have lived there ever since.

In 1984, Frank cofounded Resources Management Corp, an investment advisory firm currently operating as RMC Investment Advisors and headquartered in West Hartford, CT. Frank spent more than thirty years with the firm, including as its Chairman and CEO from 2005 until his retirement in 2017.

Frank will forever be remembered as a man who cared deeply about others. As a father of young sons, he was a fixture at sporting events and activities, rotating through the roles of Little League coach, timer at swim meets, chauffeur, and cheerleader. Later in life, he delighted in playing the role of Papa Frank with his grandchildren.

He was a lifetime supporter of his alma mater, Colgate University. Throughout his adult life, he returned to Colgate to visit, to reminisce, and to contribute as an active volunteer with the Colgate Admissions Office. In 1992, he was a proud recipient of a Maroon Citation, the University’s second highest Alumni Award.

Frank was a generous contributor within his community, including as a former Director of the Cheshire Education Foundation, a founding Director and the first Treasurer of the Cheshire Community Food Pantry, Administrative Trustee of the BALSO Foundation, Chair of the St. Bridget of Sweden Parish Finance Council, and Chair of the Cheshire Public Safety Commission. He was also a Trustee, Director and the President of the John G. Martin Foundation for many years, and was extremely proud of the Foundation’s charitable efforts in the Hartford area and in his hometown of Cheshire.

As a member of the Farms Country Club for over 40 years, he spent 14 years on the Board of Governors, two as its President and five as Treasurer.  In addition, he served as Chair of the Finance Committee for over 25 years.  His commitment to the Club was recognized when he received the third ever Board of Governors’ Distinguished Service Award.

Frank leaves behind three loving sons, Francis Loehmann III of Cheshire, CT, Jeffrey (Sara) Loehmann of Orono, MN, and Gregory (Kiri) Loehmann of San Jose, CA.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Claire, Julia, Sonia, Grace, Hazel, and Charlie, as well as his sister, Kathy (George) Zocco of Hamden, CT, his brother John “Jack” (Leslie) of East Haven, CT, nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and his K-9 companion “Gabby.”  He was predeceased by newborn twin grandchildren, Oliver and Isabella.
