Naugatuck, Edward J. Fogarty, 89, passed away at Apple Rehab on December 13, 2018 after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Lorraine (Wisinski) Fogarty for 68 years.
Ed was born March 28, 1929 in Naugatuck, son of the late Charles T. and Teresa (Cronin) Fogarty. Ed Proudly served in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. In 1991 Ed retired after serving 46 years as a Design Engineer. His hobbies included restoring antique frames and wood working. He was an avid collector of stamps and coins. His passion was traveling with Lorraine and his friends, but the most rewarding moments were spent with his growing extended family. Ed was revered as the life of the party with his collection of jokes and funny stories.
Ed was an active volunteer and member of several organizations including the Naugatuck Jaycees, the Knights of Columbus Ojeda Council #33, the Bristol Company Quarter Century Club, and the Bristol Co. Engineers Club. He was on the board of directors of the Waterbury Heart Association, and was a member and treasurer for the Boy Scout Troup 115 Committee.
Besides his wife Lorraine, he leaves his children, Robin, of Naugatuck, and Kevin and his wife Peggy, of Watertown; his four grandchildren, Lauren and husband Gary, of West Hartford, Sean and wife Emily, of Waterbury, Erin of Essex, and Meghan of Watertown; his four great grandchildren Conor, Julia, Molly and Ava; his brother-in-law, Frank Wisinski and wife Joann, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Charles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Burial will be private in St. James Cemetery.
