Desiree Floyd

Thomaston, CT Desiree Y. Floyd, 50, died peacefully on May 4, 2018 at her home.

Desiree was born on September 24, 1967 in Bridgeport, CT, daughter of Richard Lanham, and the late Joann Cooke. She grew up in Bridgeport, but wanting a better life for her children, moved the family to Naugatuck. She worked for many years as an executive assistant for several non-profit organizations, the last of which being NASW where her work also included IT responsibilities. Desiree enjoyed traveling and decorating for the holidays. She most enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren, who all knew her as Mimi. Desiree was a giving person. Throughout her life, she gave her time, money, advice, food or anything else that someone needed. She also gave many years to the care of her ailing mother. She was a good friend to many and will be missed for among so many other things, her smile and laughter.

Desiree is survived by her husband, Michael J. Floyd; her father, Richard Lanham; her daughter, Shakiesha Phillips (Shawn); her sons, Anthony Robinson (Nina), Michael Floyd (Zaria) and Bobby Floyd (Guli); her brother Erick Lanham (Elizabeth); her two sisters Linda Lanham and Shamone Tucker; her six grandsons; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends may call on Saturday from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers and to honor Desiree's memory, contributions may be made to autismspeaks.org.
