Florence Lillian Hartmann, age 89, formerly of Naugatuck and Littleton, NH entered into rest on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Seacrest Assisted Living and Memory Care in West Haven. Florence was born on August 10, 1932 in Buffalo, NY, daughter of the late Melvin and Florence McMellon Burke.
Florence was devout to her faith and was a former member of the St. Michael’s Episcopal Church Choir in Naugatuck. A creative woman, she found enjoyment in needlepoint, knitting and crocheting many precious gifts for family and friends. After her retirement from Phillips Technologies in Cheshire she relocated to New Hampshire and was active with St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, even serving as their Treasurer, Head of Altar Guild and Vestry and spearheaded Community Dinners.
She is the beloved mother of Elaine McFadden and her husband, John of Shelton; and Alice Caple and her husband, William of Ansonia. Florence is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Francis Eastman, Meghan McFadden, John McFadden IV, Will Caple, Michael Caple, Kaitlyn Caple, Will Smith III, Amy Buckley and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Charles Hartmann; her daughter, Doreen Gagner and her brother, James Burke.
Her family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the caring staff at Seacrest for the friendship and compassion they showed to Florence throughout the years she spent there with them.
A Graveside Service for Florence will be held at King’s Highway Cemetery, 271 Cherry Street, Milford, CT 06460 on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 11AM. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck has been entrusted with her arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, in memory of Florence Hartmann.
