Filomena Barzda

Mrs. Filomena M. (Ippedico) Barzda, 86 of Cheshire passed away Saturday March 20, 2010 at Mid State Medical Center in Meriden. She was the wife of Edward J. Barzda.

Mrs. Barzda was born February 27, 1924 in New Haven a daughter of the late Luigi and Grace (Ricciardi) Ippedico and has been a Cheshire resident for the past 42 years. She was a graduate of Hamden High School and Briarwood College in Southington and was a real estate broker for William Raveis Real Estate retiring in 1986 after many years of service. She enjoyed cooking and gardening and loved animals, especially cats. Mrs. Barzda was a Communicant of the Church of the Epiphany in Cheshire.

Besides her husband she leaves her nephews, Peter Ippedico and Paul Ippedico, her nieces, Judith Kolesar of Stratford and Jessica Ippedico and her sister-in-law Olga Ippedico. She was predeceased by her brothers Nicholas and Vito Ippedico.

Funeral services for Mrs. Barzda will be held Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. from the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire 615 South Main Street to the Church of the Epiphany 1750 Huckins Road for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in South End Cemetery in Southington. There are no calling hours.
