Naugatuck, CT Lorraine Mary Ferreira Woodfield, passed away peacefully at her home on January 1, 2023 surrounded by her son Edward and her loving nieces.
Lorraine was born September 24, 1943 in Waterbury, CT, she graduated from Naugatuck High School and lived in Naugatuck most of her life.
Lorraine is predeceased by her best friend and husband, Harold “Woody” Woodfield; her mother, Flora Mae Sampson Carreiro; her father, Jessie Carreiro; her brother Richard Carreiro; her sister, Janet Goulet and her niece, Nancy Carreiro.
Lorraine leaves behind her two sons, Edward Ferreira and Michael Ferreira, who were her whole life; sisters, Nancy Henao and Dorothy Zaikas; her partner in crime, Cousin Edward Sampson; two stepchildren, Harold Woodfield, Jr. and his wife, Pamela and Denise Fonseca and her husband, John. She also leaves her cherished goddaughter, Pamela Fisher, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many friends.
Lorraine lived her entire life helping others as a caregiver to many people. Lorraine retired from Southbury Training School where she worked for 20 years.
Her biggest loves in her life were her children, animals and her summer beach vacations at the Rhode Island beach cottage with Woody.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00am St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Everyone attending is asked to please meet directly at church. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the ASPCA at aspca.org or to Accent Care, 1579 Straits Turnpike, Middlebury, CT 06762.
