WATERBURY — Ms. Liberdade R. Fernandes, 68, of 990 West Main St., died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, in Waterbury.
Ms. Fernandes was born in Lisbon, Portugal, on April 28, 1942, a daughter of the late Martiniano and Maria Joaquina Fernandes. She retired after working as a seamstress for many years, and was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Naugatuck.
Ms. Fernandes is survived by two daughters, Tina Lopes and Rosemary Carneiro, both of Waterbury; a sister, Maria Ruas of Naugatuck; a brother, Jose C. Fernandes of Canada; four grandchildren, Samantha Fernandes, Alex Carneiro, Jacob Carneiro and Lexy Carneiro; and two nieces, Ana Paula Ruas and Ana Bela Costa.
A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck, on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m.
