WATERBURY- Mrs. Felicity (Jefferies) Cookson, 83, of 31 Nottingham Terr., died Monday evening, April 20, 2009 at her home, with her children and family by her side. She was the wife of the late Howard W. Cookson, who past away in 1983, after 39 years of marriage.
Mrs. Cookson was born in Gloucestershire, England, June 25, 1925, a daughter of the late Albert and Rose (Gardner) Jefferies and had been a Waterbury resident since 1953, coming here from England. She was a communicant of Christ Episcopal Church and had served as a Royal Corps. Observer, during World War II.
She leaves one son, Gregory J. Cookson of Waterbury; two daughters, Wendy Ann Stadalnik of Waterbury and Donna Gertrude Lester of Middleburg, FL.; 3 half-brothers, Anthony Jefferies, Robert Jefferies and Christopher Jefferies all of England; one step-brother, Maurice of England and was predeceased by a son, Jeffery Howard Cookson and 3 brothers, Albert, Fred, and Frank Jefferies and a sister, Louise Jefferies; 7 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:15 am from the Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave to Christ Episcopal Church, 2030 East Main St. for services at 10 am. Burial will be in Old Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center, 1075 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, 06708.
