SOUTHBURY- Mrs. Evelyn S. (Clark) Zucker, 99, formerly of Heritage Crest, Southbury, passed away Christmas evening Dec. 25, 2011 at the River Glen Continuing Care Center in Southbury. She was the widow of Bernard J. Zucker.
Mrs. Zucker was born in Springfield, Mass., a daughter of the late John E. and Frances (Parver) Clark and she spent two years at New York University and then began a career in writing and worked for various Corporations as a writer for a number of years. She served as editor-in chief and layout artist for the principal publications of two major corporations with headquarters in New York City. Her last career was with Metal and Thermnite Corp. She enjoyed writing, and sculpture, and painting and was self-educated in reading and speaking French. She was one of the founders of the Waterbury Arts Festival and served on the committee for the first four years of its existence. Prior to her illness she and her late husband were members of Beth El Synagogue.
She leaves a step-son, Anthony M Zucker of Knoxville, TN.; two nephews and two step-granddaughters. She was predeceased by two brothers, Wallace Clark, an Irving Clark.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 12 noon at Beth El Synagogue, 444 Main St. North, Southbury. Burial will be in Beth El Cemetery, Boyden St., Waterbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beth El Synagogue, 444 Main St. North, Southbury, CT 06488.
