Evelyn Nelson

NAUGATUCK- Evelyn A. [Johnson] Nelson, 96, formerly of Park Avenue, passed away Friday, Dec.3, 2010 in Cottage Grove, Minnesota. She was the widow of Carlton Nelson

Evelyn, was born in Naugatuck June 10th 1914 a daughter of Carl and Lina (Anderson) Johnson. She graduated from Naugatuck High School and was a life-long member of Hillside Covenant Church where she served on many committees. She moved to Cottage Grove, to live with her daughter and son-in-law.

She was a devoted wife and mother. She loved camping at Hammonasset State Park. She offered rides to friends and relatives taking them to appointments, grocery shopping, and out to lunch. She will be sorely missed.

She leaves a son, Robert [Anita] Nelson of Old Lyme, Ct. and a daughter, Louise [Rodney] Rappe of Cottage Grove, Minn. with whom she made her home; 4 grandsons, Douglas[Chris] and Dwight[Jenny] Nelson, Brian and Todd[Tina]Rappe; and 5 great-grandchildren, Lucy, Phoebe and Oscar Nelson and Isaac and Evi Rappe.

A memorial service will be held at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. on Saturday, January 15th at 11:00 A.M. A private burial will be in Grove Cemetery, Naugatuck. Memorial contributions may be made to Hillside Covenant Church, 100 Hillside Ave., Naugatuck 06770.
