CHESHIRE - Eugene D. Johnson, 86, passed away Monday, January 12, 2015 at Yale New Haven Hospital, St. Raphael Campus. He was the husband of Lorraine M. (Rabideau) Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was born July 15, 1928 in Hartford, the son of the late Chester M. and Helen B. (Burnham) Johnson. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army as a Private with Rifleman specialty receiving both an Occupation and Victory Ribbon. He had worked for various manufacturing firms before owning and operating Danjon Manufacturing in Cheshire for more than 50 years. He was an avid fisherman and sports enthusiast who enjoyed watching the Red Sox, UCONN Basketball, and his son playing hockey in Cheshire and at Quinnipiac University, but most of all spending time at the family cottage in Mystic with his wife, family and friends.
Besides his wife of 65 years, Mr. Johnson is survived by two daughters Donna Bergolios and her husband Jim of Bendersville, PA, Karen Szilvasy and her husband Michael of Durham; his two sons David and his wife Pam of Cheshire; Todd and his wife Michele of Wellington, FL, his grandchildren, Justin & Marlis, Jeremy & Vanessa, and Jamie Bergolios, Matt, Mike, Taylor, and Sierra Johnson, Sarah and John Redford, Jessica and Bill LeTourneau and Bryan Lee; his great grandchildren Camryn LeTourneau, Alan, Taylor and Nora Redford; his Sister-in-law, June Johnson of Cheshire as well as many Nieces & Nephews. Mr. Johnson is predeceased by his brother Richard Johnson.
Arrangements – Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 12 noon at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home, 615 South Main Street, Cheshire. Burial will be in the State Veteran's Cemetery in Middletown at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions in Mr. Johnson's name may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 35 Cold Spring Road, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
