Thomas Etkin Md
Bethany, CT Thomas H. Etkin, M.D., 69, the husband of Lynda Tartaglia-Etkin, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Masonicare Health Center in Wallingford.
Dr. Etkin was born November 14, 1945 in New York, NY, a son of the late George and Sylvia (Nash) Etkin.
In addition to his wife Lynda, Dr. Etkin is survived by his sons, David Etkin and his wife Ann, Brandon Holt, Trevor Etkin and Truman Etkin, his daughter, Brittany Tannenbaum and her husband Jeremy, his grandson, Sam Etkin, his sister in law, Rivka Etkin and his niece Elia Etkin. Dr. Etkin was predeceased by his brother Peter Etkin.
Lovingly known as "Abba" by friends and family, Tom enjoyed afternoons filled with fresh flowers, good conversation and good company. Post Yale grad school, Dr. Etkin built his medical practice. StayWell Pediatrics, with its open door policy welcomed the community into a warm safe haven. Tom was a caring teacher to many. He loved woodworking, model building and pewter figurines. Lynda and Tom cherished each other and music, which filled the walls of their home in Bethany, CT.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, March 29, 2015 at 2:30pm at First Church of Christ, 511 Amity Road, Bethany. Burial with military honors will be at a later date in Carrington Cemetery. Friends and family may call at First Church of Christ on Sunday from 1:30pm to 2:30pm. To honor Dr. Etkin’s memory, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2080 Silas Deane Highway, Rocky Hill, CT 06067. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.
