Ervin L. Wright

Cheshire, CT – Ervin L. Wright passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on September 25, 2019 at Regency House Health & Rehabilitation Center in Wallingford. He was the husband of the late Carmella (Buono) Wright.
He was born July 2, 1928 in Caribou, Maine to the late Charles and Lillian (Sparks) Wright Jr. Ervin served in the United States Navy during the mid-1940s. In 1948 Ervin left Maine with his brother Vernon Wright with little more than the shirts on their backs for the Waterbury, CT area in search of work. Ervin and his brother initially found work installing linoleum floors. It was while installing one of these floors he met his future wife Carmella.
Ervin would later find work at A.M.F. Alcort in Waterbury, CT building their Sunfish Sailboats. Ervin worked there for 33 years until 1989 when they closed the Waterbury plant. Ervin enjoyed woodworking for many years. He made many clocks, bird houses, baby cradles and many other things that he would sell at craft fairs and other places. Ervin was always helping family and friends with projects around their homes. It seemed there was nothing he could not fix.
Ervin was predeceased by his wife, Carmella Buono Wright on August 1, 1970; and an infant daughter; his brothers Freeman Wright and Vernon Wright; his sisters Violet Norsworthy, Julia Tracy, Rosella Hewitt, Pearl Wright; and close companion for many years, Ruby Anderson.
Ervin is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Frank Bradley of Plantsville; his 2 grandchildren Carrie (Bradley) Sigel and John Sigel Jr. of Southington and Frank Bradley and Kelley Sullivan of Cheshire; 4 greatgrandchildren Caitlin (Rediker) Mayo, Brian Rediker, Samantha Bradley and Madison Sigel, 2 great-great grandchildren, Joseph Mayo and Bradley Mayo as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ervin’s family would like to thank the professional and compassionate staff of Regency House Health & Rehabilitation Center in Wallingford for the excellent care they provided for Ervin. They would also like to thank Guardian Angels Homecare in Cheshire, particularly Syvella Watts, Peggy Lennon and Jacob Munir who went above and beyond in assisting Ervin at home. A very special thank you to Jonathan Williams, Ervin’s neighbor, who always checked on Ervin and assisted him in so many ways through the years.
