WATERBURY; Mr. Ernest P. Marggraff 92, of Waterbury passed away Wednesday June 9, 2010 at the Elim Park Baptist Home in Cheshire. He was the husband of the late Doris (Vancelette) Marggraff.
Mr. Marggraff was born April 16, 1918, in Waterbury, a son of the late Paul and Edna (Piening) Marggraff, and lived in Waterbury most of his life. He was a graduate of Chase Grammar School and Crosby High School and was a sales manager at Weil-McLain retiring after many years of service. He was a US Navy Veteran serving during WWII aboard the USS Bogue. Mr. Marggraff was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Plymouth where he was a Historian of the Church and in1993 wrote and published a history of the First Baptist Church. He enjoyed genealogy and served as his family's genealogist.
Mr. Marggraff is survived by his son Kenneth Marggraff of Waterbury, his grandchildren Aaron and Sarah Marggraff both of Waterbury, and nine nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Mr. Marggraff will be held Saturday July 10, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Plymouth 2 & 4 North Street. Burial in Old Pine Grove Cemetery will be at the convenience of his family. The Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury 9 Holmes Avenue has care of arrangements.
