Naugatuck, CT Raymond Desmond Ericson, 61, husband of Lucille (Desrosiers) Ericson, died unexpectedly December 1, 2022 at Hartford Hospital.

Ray was born September 6, 1961 in Waterbury, CT son of the late Raymond and Margaret (Nuzzo) Ericson. Ray graduated from Naugatuck High School, Class of 1980 and from Technical Careers Institute, Class of 1981. Ray worked for the past 12 years as a mechanic and driver for the Town of Plymouth.

Ray was a devoted and passionate member of the Wallingford Rod and Gun Club since June 9, 1987. His service to the Club included Rifle Range chairman and Firearm Safety Instructor. He enjoyed organizing and cooking for the annual pig roast and spending time on Sundays with his dearest friends at the “Redneck Grove”. Ray also spent the holiday season as a professional Santa Claus since 2016. His favorite events were hosted by the Railroad Museum of New England. Ray had a contagious enthusiasm for his job and hobbies, which he generously shared with everyone he met.

In addition to Lucy, his loving wife of 37 years, Ray is survived by his daughter and son in law, Lauren (Ericson) Casolo and Scott A. Casolo of McDonough, GA; his brothers and sisters in law, Steven Ericson and Dawn Ericson of Woodbury and Glenn Ericson and Tina Ericson of Wolcott; his sister in law, Lillian Taranovich of Woodbury; his brother in law, Henry Desrosiers of Jim Thorpe, PA and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ray was predeceased by his sister, Kristen (Ericson) DeCarlo.

A Service to celebrate Ray’s life will be held on Monday, December 5, 2022 at the Wallingford Rod and Gun Club, 411 North Branford Road, Wallingford, CT. Visitation with Ray’s family will be from 4:00-6:00pm with a memorial service from 6:00-6:30pm. A dinner for family and close friends will be from 6:30-8:00pm. In lieu of flowers and to honor Ray’s memory, donations are requested to the Wallingford Rod and Gun Club, 411 North Branford Road, Wallingford, CT 06492.
