Waterbury, CT Jeanette Gaugler Emmons, age 79 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully, Monday, July 10, 2017, with family and loved ones by her side.
She was born in Waterbury, CT on Oct. 1, 1937 to the late Bernadine Gaugler.
Jaye shared 40 years of her life in marriage with her husband, the late, Herbert Emmons.
Jaye was an avid reader, had a love of learning, enjoyed traveling, decorating her home, flowers, and dancing to Elvis. She followed professional tennis and the UCONN Huskies women’s basketball team. She cherished her time with her many nieces and nephews and her grandsons.
Jaye is survived by her sister Carol Reilly, of Shelton; her beloved niece, Trish Bogen and her husband Chris and their children, Bill, Kim and Tori of Oxford, CT; her nieces and their spouses, Kathy and Fred Palumbo of Fl, Lori and Russ Blankenship of Shelton, Susan Lacour and the late Vincent Lacour of NY, Kelly Botti and Eric Testani of Shelton, Carolyn and Cliff Forte of Stratford, and her 18 great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her step son and his wife, Randy and Maureen Emmons of FL; her step daughter, Sharron Emmons and her wife Brianna Johnson of Middletown, CT and her two grandsons, Dan Emmons and his wife Karrine of Ervine CA and Tom Emmons of Manchester, CT. Jaye was predeceased by her sister Patricia Gaugler.
We are grateful for the care from VITAS in her final days and the love, support and care from Melissa Szantyr and her son Aaron these past 3 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Road, Oxford on Saturday, July 15th at 10:00am. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. There are no calling hours, but friends are welcome to stop by the home of Trish and Chris Bogen in Oxford, Saturday after 5:00pm to share memories of Jaye's life and raise a glass of Chardonnay in her honor. In lieu of flowers and to honor Jaye’s memory, donations can be made to the VITAS Innovative Care Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital, 56 Franklin Street, Waterbury, CT 06706 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
