Mrs. Ella (Matzkin) Prillig, 98, of Waterbury passed away Saturday February 21, 2009 at the Hospital of Saint Raphael in New Haven. She was the widow of Max Prillig.
Mrs. Prillig was born February 8, 1911 in Waterbury a daughter of the late Samuel and Anna (Goldstein) Matzkin and was a lifelong Waterbury resident. She was a prominent member of the Jewish community and was a member of Beth El Synagogue, the Sisterhood of Beth El, Hadassah, the Jewish Federation and O.R.T. She was an avid bridge enthusiast and a devoted caregiver.
She leaves her son, Robert Prillig of New Haven, her nieces, Judith Israel, Lauren Silver and Peggi Czinger, her nephews, Elliot Prillig, Barry Silver, Michael Silver and Steven Matzkin all formerly of Waterbury. She was predeceased by her sisters, Gertrude Selwitz and Ruth Silver and her brother Martin Matzkin.
A graveside service for Mrs. Prillig will be held Monday at 12:30 p.m. at the Brass City Lodge Cemetery, Stillson Road in Waterbury. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at 18 Tower Lane in New Haven.
