Elizabeth Martinez

CHEHSIRE - Elizabeth Martinez, 88, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016 at Marbridge Retirement Center in Cheshire. She was the wife of the late Julius Martinez.

Mrs. Martinez was born August 1, 1927 in New York, NY, the daughter of the late Wladislaw and Stella (Bienak) Rakowski. She was a longtime Cheshire resident moving to town in 1955. She was a communicant of St. Bridget Church where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. In 1973 she established Oslo Switch Inc. in Cheshire with her husband. She was active in the community and was a founding member of the Farms Country Club.

She is survived by her sons, Joseph Martinez and his wife Michelle of Cheshire and Thomas Martinez of Cheshire; as well as her grandchildren Molly and George.

Arrangements - A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery and there are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cheshire Food Pantry, 51 Railroad Ave., Cheshire, CT 06410. The Alderson-Ford Funeral home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements.
