Betty attended Catholic schools in Philadelphia and when her family moved to Rockville Centre, Long Island, she attended St. Agnes High School for her senior year. She then graduated as a Registered Nurse from Saint Vincent's School of Nursing in Manhattan. She worked initially as an operating room nurse at Mercy Hospital on Long Island and later as a nurse in private practice for a pediatrician and then an otolaryngologist for many years. Betty was also a very active member of the Catholic Nurses Association for many years, including several years as President. Betty was also a member of the Rosary Altar Society at Saint Matthew’s in Dix Hills, taught CCD, and was active in scouting as a den mother for her three boys. She enjoyed summer vacations with her family, camping all over the United States, including an epic cross-country trip visiting many of the national parks and monuments along the way.
Betty married Anthony J. Fay on May 28th, 1960, in Saint Agnes Cathedral and the newlyweds moved into their first home in Levittown where John, Joseph and Peter were born. After a few years, they built their dream home in Dix Hills where Maureen was born.
After their retirements, Betty and Tony moved to Cheshire, CT, where they continued to host family and friends with their annual summer parties for many years. Eventually, Betty and Tony moved to Ashlar Village in Wallingford, CT where they maintained their active social life with family and many friends, both old and new.
