MIDDLEBURY- Elizabeth A. Maknis, 95, passed away peacefully Tuesday December 9, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her devoted family. She was predeceased by her loving husband Walter Maknis.
She was born September 2, 1919 in Waterbury daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Steponaitis) Baranauskas.
Elizabeth was an Administrative Assistant at General Heat Treating Company Inc. prior to her retirement.
She is survived by a son Larry and his wife Tracey Maknis of Middlebury; a brother William Baranauskas of Fairbanks, Alaska; a sister Marie Moorfoot of Waterbury; two grandchildren Melissa Maknis of Woodbury, and Mitchell Maknis of Middlebury. Elizabeth was predeceased by her son David Maknis; a brother August Baran; and her sister Lillian Kilian.
Elizabeth loved her family and was in her element playing with her grandchildren, cooking mouthwatering Lithuanian and New England style meals for family gatherings, and enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens. She was a devoted caregiver to her son, David for 40 years. She loved being outdoors and was a farm girl at heart.
She was unwavering in her life goals and by example taught her loved ones the following lessons: devotion to family, strong work ethic, kindness of spirit, and a respect and joy found in the wonders of nature.
Arrangements- Mrs. Maknis’s services will be private. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow Street, 06770 is assisting with the arrangements.
