Cheshire - Eleanor E. Ratchelous, 87, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late William Ratchelous who passed away in 1970.

Mrs. Ratchelous was born in Hempstead, NY, in 1936 and was the daughter of the late Andrew and Louise Hoegl. She was a graduate of Hofstra University class of 1957 and pursued a Master’s of Science degree from Quinnipiac University. Mrs. Ratchelous was a researcher of parasitology and toxicology at two major drug corporations. She opened one of the first independent hematology/chemistry laboratories in CT. Prior to retirement in 2017 she worked as a Laboratory Technician for Quest Diagnostics.

Mrs. Ratchelous is survived by her son William Ratchelous and his wife Lori of Cheshire; her daughter Aimee Ratchelous and her husband Martin Holzner of Lexington, MA; her grandchildren Giulia, Andrew, William, Kinsey, and Thomas Ratchelous; her brother-in-law Brian Schrage; her nephews Alan Cherry and Brian Schrage Jr.; her nieces Jennifer Cherry, June Damadeo, Tracey Schrage, and Tara Schrage; as well as many cousins. She was predeceased by her sister’s Margaret Cherry and Lynne Schrage. She is also survived by her beloved cat, Daphne.

Mrs. Ratchelous was an active member of Cheshire Women’s Club and was an avid gardener, bridge player and artist. She also enjoyed sailing, skiing, and hiking but mostly loved spending summers with her family in Hampton Bays, New York.

Arrangements – Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family and there are no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Feral Cheshire Cats 672 Queen St., #1021 Southington, CT 06489.
